Authorship tax on smart watches in Russia25 July 2017
The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has developed a project of customs law amendments. According to it, all smart watches delivered to Russia will be imposed with an authorship tax while the same law concerning imported video cameras will be abolished.
It has been reported by the Vedomosti business daily with reference to the Ministry of Culture representatives. Proposed amendments project details are not specified. However, it is reported that the document is at the final stage of consideration.
Authorship tax is a type of customs tax imposed on suppliers of foreign audio and video equipment. The Russian Federation has introduced this tax since 1993 but it has been applied only since 2010.
