World’s first smart mirror is presented

The American company Mirror released the world’s first smart mirror to help work out.

The device consists of a screen, a microphone, speakers, a mirror, and a camera providing interactive communication. Due to additional wearables, the system will gather data about user pulse and temperature as well as analyze their preferences and sports targets.

The gathered data will help trainers provide feedback on your results and set up a schedule of workouts. The device costs $1.5 thousand.

Bionic prostheses control system is presented

The prostheses developer Motorica and the telecommunications company VimpelCom, more known as Beeline, launched a joint project. The new system allows to track bionic prostheses remotely.

The project is aimed to simplify the device management and make rehabilitation a continuous process.

Prostheses will be connected to the Beeline IoT platform. Doctors will enter patient accounts to check their health state. Thus, patients will receive recommendations on prostheses usage not attending the hospital.

Air balloons transmit an LTE signal at a record-breaking distance

Alphabet is a Loon subsidiary that set a record in LTE signal transmission distance between its air balloons moving in the stratosphere. The signal was transmitted on a 1000 km distance.

The balloons provide the Internet in difficult-to-reach areas and can stay in the sky for 100 days. The developers aim at using balloons to distribute the Internet on vast areas.

Helmet for gadget management with the power of thought is created

Avtomatika, the concern of the state corporation Rostec, presented a helmet allowing to manage gadgets by the power of thought. The device will hit the market in 2019.

The helmet is expected to manage the smart house system, household appliances, and characters in computer games.

The gadget will process the brain electrical activity and collect data based on dry electrodes. The integrated interface may register signals within the accuracy of 92-95%.

Russian cloud services become popular after combating Telegram

The dispute between the Russian Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media and Telegram led to the development of the market of cloud services. Banning a great part of IP addresses of Amazon and Google resulted in financial losses of their clients. This propelled the development of local cloud service suppliers.

Many organizations shifted to Russian services that are cheaper and provide solutions at the level of foreign companies.

Currently, the service BeeCloud from VimpelCom demonstrates sky-rocketing growth with the number of clients increased by 30%. Cloud services provided by MTS are also actively used. Its number of users has grown by 40% since the end of spring.

Market of smart city platforms to reach $755 m by 2027

According the forecast of Navigant Research, the volume of the global market of smart city platforms will reach $755 m by 2027.

Currently, such companies as Nokia, Microsoft, and Cisco are creating the smart platform projects. They are developing solutions for video surveillance, parking, and environment control.

As reported by the specialists, the integration of smart city technologies is an inevitable and necessary step. It would lead to the partnership between cities enabling ‘city as a service’ concept.
