Russia will create an information platform for smart cars
Russian president Vladimir Putin instructed the government to develop an introduction plan of an information platform for smart cars. The document must be ready before December 1, says the newspaper Izvestia.
It is expected that the platform will be installed in all connected and self-driving cars of Russian production. Its main purpose is to collect data useful for the driver, for example, information on the traffic congestion, traffic jams and the condition of the road infrastructure. To do this, the system will regularly monitor intelligent transport systems’ databases, road and geological information websites, and other services.
The future platform will be able to perform other, more complex functions. For example, it will analyze the traffic characteristics, predicting the likelihood of emergencies, as well as accepting parking payment and other services.
