NB-IoT communication system: implementation in Belarus and complete Las Vegas coverage
This summer we reported about cooperation between Huawei and the mobile operator MegaFon, its aim is creating first in Russia NarrowBand IoT (NB-IoT). There was information about active development of this alternative to the LTE-M IoT platform in other regions in autumn.
NB-IOT in Belarus
Just a few days ago, it became known that the Belarusian State Commission for Radio Frequencies issued a permission to velcom mobile operator to launch the country's first NB-IoT network. Part of the range previously allocated to the operator will be designated to support devices that work on the Internet of Things technology.
While there is no information on velcom’s specific actions in this direction, it’s reported that it actively seeks partners and is ready for cooperation.
NB-IoT in Las Vegas
The world gambling center was chosen by the US operator T-Mobile to test the operation of its own narrowband IoT network. The tests are scheduled for October 2017. Hundreds of devices will be connected to the NB-IoT network in Las Vegas, from street lamps to home air quality sensors.
If the experiment goes successfully, T-Mobile intends to distribute a narrowband network throughout the USA in 2018.
